The GlyDerm range of products can help you to have beautiful, healthy looking skin.
By using acids derived from sugar cane the skin is helped by removing the dry uppermost
layer. A course of treatments in the clinic followed by products which you can use at home
helps you to achieve this smoother, younger looking skin and so make a world of difference
to the way you look and feel about yourself.
How GlyDerm works
Glycolic acid has the smallest molecular structure of all Alpha Hydroxy acids and therefore,
has greater skin penetration than any of the other AHA's. When used in high concentrations it
penetrates the deeper layers of the skin and can stimulate several functions of the skin. It
dissolves the excess cellular glue surrounding the cells, which bonds them together, thus breaking
down the build-up of dead cells. This makes the skin cleaner and smoother as the cells lie more
tightly packed and can also prevent a build-up of cells in the follicles. This refining of the
surface layers of the cells (stratum corneum) is referred to as the 'basket weave effect'. These
properties enable glycolic acid to be used in the reduction of the signs of ageing / photo-damage,
acne, pigmentation and ingrowing hairs. It is important to remember that all skin types respond to

- Glycolic acid also increases the skin's potential to hold water.
- AHA's accelerate cell division, thus increasing the production of collagen. The increase of
collagen and elastine ensure a strengthening of the skin.
- Glycolic acid is an anti-oxidant. The combination of these functions gives an overall plumping
up of the skin and results show a 25% increase in skin thickness in treated patients.
- Glycolic acid reverses the epidermal and dermal signs of skin ageing. GlyDerm may visibly improve
the condition of the skin and might be effective in reducing the impact of scars and wrinkles.
